Now you see it, now you don't.....note the floral design!

On a recent outing to the attic of Welton Court I had the priviledge of discovering some history. Not the kind Mr nn would be interested in but some nursing history. I said to Aunt nn ' What's this chair, shall we throw it out?' To which she replied 'It's a commode'. I whipped the lid off and giggled with glee at the most wonderous discovery before me. Aunt nn wanted to keep it because it is wicker and not a model in circulation anymore but I convinced her nobody would want it now despite its historical interest plus it was a bit worse for wear. Todays commodes are minimalistic and functional in comparison to this one. Easy to clean, transport and use. This one was designed in an era when camouflage was the in thing methinks! Anyhoo it made my day and onto my phone and unfortunately for you onto your screen, hee hee. It is now on a Southwark rubbish tip somewhere over a rainbow.

Hope you enjoyed this informative and bowel warming post....................

nn xx

How delightful. As you may imagine, I have seen a variety of commodes in my time......some far less appealing than others..(patient went into hospital three weeks ago, has any one emptied it yet??!!!.....)I suppose one that was really old could be worth some cash....or you could remove the bowl and make a storage space. I have to say the rim looks a tad uncomfy though....

And remember...NEVER LIFT A COMMODE BY THE ARMS!!!!! or you could be in for a nasty shock!

Congratulations - cleaning out
The debris of the years
That it was overdue no doubt
For nigh on fifty years.

Hygiene rules OK!

Dear nn
Have just discovered that I spelt privilege wrong.
So, just for the record it's not priviledge nor privelege
but PRIVILEGE.
Note to self - must check spellings!
