Bits n Bob the builder + Mohican

A few random photos to illustrate recent life around the green. As I type fine dust is falling on me from above as the builders bang things around on the beams. They have removed some of the roof, see pic, so they can fix the steel rods in place. These weigh an immense amount and to get them to the house they had to roll them along on metal pipes as they couldn't lift them. With the impossibilty of a crane they are now trying to work out how they will lift them upto roof level!
Today I also had a man fixing a raidator valve and then Thames Water, who have been faffing around with pipes in the area for 3 months already, decided they would dig up about 5 holes around the green. Goodness me, it's like being in a drill happy wonderland and all in the pouring pouring rain!!!

Great Grandma came over the over week so grandaughter made sure she made good use of her, see pic, and her storytelling skills! It was a test to see if she could say 'peekaboo' without her dentures falling out. LOL

My two happy boys caught on camera recently, with rat of course! I think he looks a lot more David these days, especially when D pulls a sad face!!!!

Then there is Nat with a mohican! I remember a picture of me looking like this but I am a bit older. I cut his hair last night in the bath, hard work but he looks really cute with short short hair and not a floppy mop. Cutting his hair is like trying to paint a wave; difficult cos he keeps on moving!!!!! I'll get some clippers when he gets older.....fun! Then I'll give myself a number 1!!!!! Ha ha! Don't worry one is jesting!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr I am freezing. Having loft hatch open is like leaving the freezer door open!

Herbert or Mrs Tiggywinkle?

So there I was minding my own business last night torch in hand moving a bit of water out the mini pond to accomodate the new tads with H2O when.................

Well to break it down I was leaning over scooping water with a jug in my right hand and holding torch in my left. I had completed a few scoops when my jug brushed over something which moved.............arrrgh!!! I nearly wet meself!!! I jumped back and shone my torch over the area and to my surprise there was a massive fat hedgehog right next to the mini pond. I had been completely oblivious to it!!! Anyhoo, I jumped up and down like silly child and ran to get David. I said 'Get out here now you have to see this' and he said 'But I only have socks on' so I said 'It's worth getting wet socks for' so he came out and said 'Wow' and then returned swiftly to the kitchen as there was a curry waiting for him!!

I spent a while oogling it from every angle and looking at it's cute ickle black nose. Then I took some pictures, of course..............................and then I praised God for His wonderful creation........even though it scared the pants off me! The irony was that when I went out I swept the garden with the torch looking for foxes or cats that would jump out but it was Herbert that scared me, slightly! My rationale for it being Herbert is that it was quite big so maybe a daddy hedgehog. Or maybe they are like frogs and the female is a big mama while the male is small! Who knows. All I knows is that it was well worth delaying a curry for!!!!

p.s I hope he/she doesn't eat tadpoles!
p.p.s In the bottom two pics you can see the ickle black nose!

Snowday Sunday

When D told me it was snowing on Sunday I got up so quickly that I nearly blacked out!! Now there's a better way to get a lazy wife out of bed!! Much better than an alarm clock or promise of coffee!

Top of page you can see our lovely scaffolding waiting to be used.

Nat enjoyed being carried around while I crunched as much snow as possible!

See above:Nat found a new friend about the same size, if a bit bigger!! Today, being Tuesday, his friend still remains as a small blob of snow but his arms fell orf!

Nat waved his arms and legs in the snow as he said, 'Mummy what are you doing to me?' but he liked it really, apart from the cold bit.

Back to normality now as D goes back to school. I have been absolutely cained from working day shifts but I still love it! Nothing quite like the feeling of lead legs from working 07:30 till 20:30 but at least I am doing something which rewards the pain!!! I feel physically more tired from working day shifts than nights as days are more physically demanding whereas nights are more about surviving being up for 24hrs with no sleep!!!
